   SKI GSTAAD:

Downhill skiing in Gstaad requires that you choose several Gstaad ski areas that are accessible from the village.
On maps these areas are called "Sektors" and you will benefit by viewing this pdf document Gstaad and Saanenland map: HERE as well as ASKING locals or your hotel consierge their opinion as to which ski area would best relate to your skiing talents and ... most importantly which pass to purchase. The finest beginner run is the 1.253-km.-long Ski lift Schopfen slope from the gondola station on the Eggli according to Gstaad and Saanenland Ski, Snowboarding Trails: MORE FROM SKISNOWBOARDEUROPE.COM. And DO LOOK AT a very well made site (only in German called http://www.skiresort.de ) so the link here takes you to an ENGLISH VERSION THANKS TO GOOGLE TRANSLATION

Generally Sektor 5 in Gsteig and Sektor 2 in the Wispile area are right above Gstaad and Sektor 4 are a bit further (sectkor 4 includes the Gacier des Diablerets, and the Col du Pillon ). Be attentive to altitude. Gstaad is at 1050 meters above see level. Gsteig is at 1184 meters above sea level and the Glacier des Diablerets is at 3210 meters above sea level. If you plan to take a helicopter to reach the glacier be
attentive to the weather reports BEFORE leaving for your destination. You can be amazed how 1800
plus meters changes weather conditions !!

Snow Report for Gstaad-Saanenmöser: HERE ON SIKINFO.COM or HERE ON THE OFFICIAL SITE and ask locally for more information.

Be attentive to rates - you may wish to get a DAY PASS and try things out if this is your first visit.
